Police Raid Delays Jeff Booth Sex Show Launch
For Immediate Release
Los Angeles, CA- The Jeff Booth Show had been almost a year in the planning stages, and was set to launch early this year. The original concept for the Internet radio show was for it to be in front of a live audience and broadcast from the Erotic University downtown Los Angeles campus. A studio space was being prepared which could hold up to 100 guests for the show which would stream live once a week.
Erotic University used space at Entertainium Studios, a 50,000 square foot facility which included an erotic art gallery, shot adult films, and hosted many sex positive events. The LAPD vice squad raided one of the events held there, because guests were having sex in the facility at an adults only event. The police made it clear that any sexually oriented future events would face similar scrutiny. The owner of Entertainium decided that the cost of fighting the city would be excessive, and sold his interests. Erotic University had to leave their home of the last three years, and the show had to be retooled.
Without a physical studio, this untethered the show to go wherever anything interesting was happening, from porn shoots to sex conventions. Hosted by former professional comedian, sex writer, and Erotic University founder Jeff Booth, it features weekly looks at sex science, sex and politics, sex and religion, and the adult entertainment industry. With a mix of guests from sex educators to porn stars, it offers an intelligent look at all things sexual, with Jeff’s unique humorous slant.
“I was very disappointed when we lost our studio,” Booth says. “I started performing on stage at 15 and made a living from it for the next 15 years. I did some television, but most of it was live on stage, which was my favorite place to be. Since we don’t have a space for an audience, we’ll take the show to the people. How we do that will evolve, but I think we can take an unfortunate situation and turn it into a very fun dynamic show.”
The show is subtitled “An Internet Radio Show with Pictures.” They developed a way to improve streaming and better ensure an uninterrupted listening experience. They realized at the same time that they could also display images synchronized with the audio. This lets listeners see what guests look like, and offers many other possibilities for visual amusement without the overhead of video streaming.
The show premieres on May 21st at 7 pm at radio.eroticuniversity.com
